Trimark’s T1-S Data Gateway (TDG) is an environmentally hardened, industrial computer that delivers essential functionality required in a SCADA system. The TDG provides field communications and IO, data collection, data logging, logical (PLC) functions, and other computing functions.

Built from solid state components, The TDG provides connection to and communication with field instruments and network devices that monitor and manage electric power generation facilities. The TDG is designed to:

  • Host Trimark’s T1-S Gateway software;
  • Support secure, bi-directional data telemetry between field devices and site control system;
  • Eliminate need for separate devices for Data Telemetry and Data Logging; and
  • Support redundant auto failover.

Computing Specifications

The TDG is built from rugged components that ensure reliability in environmental extremes common to wind and solar power generation sites. The TDG includes:

  • 1.66GHz Intel AtomTM N455 processor
  • Windows OS7 embedded operating systems
  • 2GB of DDR3 system memory
  • 16GB High Speed CF card (OS and Storage)
  • Eight USB 2.0 ports
  • Four serial ports (two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232)
  • Two 10/100/1000 Mbps ENET NIC
  • FTP file forward in industry-standard formats
  • Optional: cellular modem and/or R.F. wireless
  • Fanless: -40°C to +85°C temperature and relative humidity 5% to 95% operation

High Efficiency Design

The TDG can be delivered as compact, standalone unit or as a rack-mountable assembly:

  • Unit size: 6″ x 9″ x 3″
  • Rack mountable in either 6U x 19” or 3U x 19”
  • Wide input range: 10V to 50VDC
  • Auxiliary voltage output: +5V @ 1A, +12V @ 500mA outputs with short circuit and overload protection
  • Power-on LEDs provide visual status
  • Pulsed excitation source reduces self-heating in resistive sensors
  • Electronic calibration – no trim-pots to adjust

Connectivity and Communications

The TDG includes multiple connection ports and communicates via multiple protocols in order to accommodate a wide variety of field devices. These include:

  • Ethernet/IP
  • Modbus master and slave RTU and/or TCP
  • DNP3 master and slave
  • OPC client and server
  • SSL Encryption for secure network connections
  • Optional: Discrete Analog Inputs. 8 Channels of 16-bit A/D resolution.

Sensors, Inputs & Outputs

  • Supports thermocouples, RTD’s, strain gauges, voltage inputs, 4-20 mA current loops, and thermistors – each channel is software programmable for sensor type and gain
  • Integral cold junction sensor for thermocouple and ambient temperature
  • Screw terminals for easy wiring
  • True four-wire circuits for resistive sensors
  • Relay output
