Trimark Contracted for SCADA and NRI Services for Gaskell 2-5 PV+BESS
Trimark Associates, Inc., the industry leader in intelligent energy management, has been awarded a contract to provide integrated SCADA, complex metering, and CAISO compliance services for Gaskell West 2-5 – a set of PV generation and battery energy storage resources in Kern County, California.
Gaskell West 2-5 is a complicated development that, when fully built, will total 105 MW AC of solar generation plus 20 MW/80 MWHR of Battery Energy Storage (BESS). Rosendin Electric is the EPC and Matrix is the resource owner. The project will add four PV resources and a battery to the existing Gaskell 1 PV generation resource and substation. The new projects feed a single substation that also connects PV generation resources outside of the Gaskell group. Because of varied distances from the substation and the intermittent nature of PV generation, the project requires a sophisticated, dynamic-loss metering system to support equitable compensation.

As part of the contract, Trimark will provide a Master Plant Controller to unify management of the multiple PV generation resources and the BESS. Trimark will deploy its full range of field-proven SCADA functionality including power plant control, closed loop logic, voltage regulation, active power optimization, automatic generation control (AGC), demand response, and power quality management.
Additionally, Trimark will provide NRI services, six CAISO-certified RIGs, 14 CAISO-certified revenue meters and associated dynamic loss logic, five meteorological stations and accompanying sensors, network equipment, and related consulting services.
