Folsom, CA, August 8, 2022 – Trimark Associates, Inc., the industry leader in intelligent energy control, has opened an office in The Woodlands, Texas. This office provides a center of excellence for Trimark’s team to effectively serve the state’s expanding, renewable-energy market.
“Trimark delivers advanced control and monitoring solutions that are trusted by many of the largest utility-scale photovoltaic generation and battery storage owners in the U.S.,” explained Mark Morosky, Trimark’s President and CEO. “Our Texas-based workforce blends local knowledge with practical experience to develop and deploy complex control systems required to effectively operate PV generation and storage resources.”
By 2023, Texas will add about 30 GW of solar power generation, making the Lone Star state the fastest growing photovoltaic (PV) market in the U.S. The trend accelerates from there. According to Bloomberg.com, a record 106 GW of solar resource development is proposed with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Growth is driven by factors including recent adequacy issues; manageable regulation; reliable sunshine; relatively inexpensive land; and forecast increases in demand for power.
It’s not just generation that’s gaining steam. Texas is adding utility-scale battery energy storage too – often paired with renewable power resources. That means owners need tools to coordinate plant operations and control – providing resource adequacy with fast response to power requests and supporting grid stability with ancillary services.
Growth in the renewable sector is a giant stride toward a carbon-free power grid. However, there are many challenges to maintaining grid stability when a significant portion of the electrical generation is fulfilled by intermittent, renewable resources. Instead of managing a few large generators, balancing authorities like ERCOT must now direct hundreds of grid-connected resources to ramp up or reduce generation as supply and demand changes. It’s more challenging to maintain grid frequency when generation resources lack inherent inertia. And, it’s critical to back billions of dollars of power-related transactions with independently-certified revenue meter data.
Trimark’s Texas-based team now has a home. This location will allow team members to better serve projects throughout the state and the entire Southeast. The new office is located at 2002 Timberloch Place, The Woodlands, TX 77380.
Trimark Associates, Inc. (Trimark) delivers industry-leading solutions to allow real-time operational control, enable informed management of power production operations, and support regulatory compliance.
