Trimark Now Supports SEL RTAC and NovaTech Orion RIGs in CAISO Market

Trimark now supports third-party Remote Intelligent Gateways (RIGs) including the SEL RTAC and NovaTech Orion through the Trimark Operations Center.

“Electric power resource owners who use the RTAC or Orion as their RIG have asked Trimark to provide them with the same level of monitoring and support that we’ve delivered on our own devices for over 10 years,” explained Tom Short, Trimark’s Vice President of Trimark Operations Center and Client Relations. “Trimark’s support services give owners a high degree of confidence in their resource’ uptime and compliance to avoid penalties and maintain market participation.”

The Trimark Operations Center provides a range of RIG support and service options including real-time monitoring, outage alarms and notifications, issue handling for ancillary services, ECN monitoring, troubleshooting, exemption forms, and corrective actions.

“If a RIG or other telemetry-related outage should occur, we typically know about it before the owner or even CAISO,” said Short. “That allows the owner extra time to prepare exemption forms, identify the problem, and expedite a solution to return their resource to compliance and market participation.”

The RIG accepts secure dispatches from CAISO to request specific operating targets for all power generation and storage resources. Trimark RIGs serve more than half of all installed resources throughout California. These RIGs serve resources including solar, wind, geothermal, biomass/biogass, hydroelectric, natural gas, diesel, nuclear, and battery energy storage.
